HUMA 1013 Online Midterm Examination

INstructions: 1. PLease copy and paste the questions on a Word file (97-2003 Word file) or use the compatibility mode. Do not email me a Word file with a .docx extension. PLease check your file first and be sure it has a .doc filename extension.

2. Post your answers both on the Word file and on the massage of the email.

3. Email your answers to angsosyoklasrum@yahoo.com and salocinnitsuj@gmail.com. Send the Word file as an attachment but copy paste the contents of the Wordfile as the message of your email.

4. Indicate in the subject the following: The Subject, your Yr.&Section, and your name. Example:
HUMA1013_DelaCruzJuan_BBF2-4. Take note that if you do not indicate your year and section and name in the subject or if you email me and Word2007 document, I will not be able to read your midterm and you will not receive a grade for that ecamination.

Questions:

1. Go to the PUP obelisk and study the bust of Apolinario Mabini. Analyze the sculpture using ALice Guillermo's Four planes. As context, discover why the monument was built and why the flagpole was transferred to the Freedom Park. What is the significance of Mabini's ideals to the PUP Star on the upper portion of the obelisk.

2. Go the the Inter-faith Chapel and comment on the sahpe ans structure of the chapel. Get the history of the building. When was the chapel built?Who was the architect of the chapel? Who commissioned the building of the chapel? Whay was it designed in such a way? HOw would you comment on the recent structural changes being imnplemented on the chapel premises?

3. Go to the gate and comment on the sculpture seen immediately before you enter the PUP gate. Write the important fact about the sculpture (Title, sculptor, medium, date, etc.). Choose between the seven basic questions and Alice Guillermo's Four planes in analyzing the sculpture. What could be done to preserve the scultpture and to prevent from it being vandalized?

4. Review the lyrics of the PUP Hymn and discuss the imagery and social significance found thereof. Basaed on the hymn, what do you think is your role as a Filipino citizen and as a student of PUP?

Arts Month- Song Writing Contest---all classes under Justin Nicolas required to submit entry

Dear HUMA 1013/ HU110 Students:

February is declared as PUP Arts MOnth and one of the major activites will be the song writing contest. I am encouraging all my classes to submit at least one entry for the song writing contest, but each class must try to submit the most number of entries that they can submit. The final presentation will be on February 3, 2010. The theme will be close to the NCCA theme "Ani ng Sining". Details will be announced later.

Thanks and hope one of my students bag the frist prize!

So start practising you old composition that have not yet been performed yet or start composing those new songs now!
